VADIM PALMOV – An outstanding Master Pianist and Virtuoso – (Russia/Germany)

Today I would like to present an exceptional musician and dear friend of mine, who is charming his audience wherever he is giving a concert, and who is dedicating himself to music as a bridge between people.
Vadim Palmov is an outstanding master pianist and virtuoso of highest professionalism in technique and interpretation. He is easily mastering even the most difficult compositions with surprising facility and is famous for his absolutely extraordinary way of playing and multi-variant virtuosic mastery that seems to be far beyond all limits.

Vadim Palmov is one of the most prestigious and well-known Russian pianists of our time, he is living in Germany and is a docent at the academy of music in Karlsruhe.
Vadim Palmov graduated from the Leningrad Conservatoire in 1986. He performs recital programs and as a soloist with orchestras in Russia, CIS and abroad – in Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, and participated in many prestigious international festivals.

His pianist’s repertoire includes works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and he is also devoted to romantic music of Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, like his teacher, the prominent Russian musician Nathan Perelman (1906-2002), a professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and a teacher of many well-known musicians.
One of Palmov’s preferences is music of XX century.
He has performed some compositions of N. Slonimsky, Hovhaness, Siegmeister (USA), Bucholtz (Germany), Desyatnikov, Sapozhnikov, Kornakov, Bibergan, Belov, Krasavin, Nevolovich (St. Petersburg) etc. for the first time in Russia.
His duo performances with the famous Russian composer and Shostakovich student Vadim Bibergan are legendary.
As a soloist, Vadim Palmov has concerted with the most prestigious symphony orchestras of Russia.
The pianist proved to be a gifted organizer. Vadim Palmov was chairman of the jury at the International Youth Piano Duo Competition in St. Petersburg between 1995 and 1998 and also organizer and artistic director of 13 musical events in Russia.
In 2007, Vadim Palmov became associate professor at the University of Music in Karlsruhe. He is the artistic director of the Anton Rubinstein Festival in Peterhof since 2005. Also in 2005, he became the artistic director of the “Musikbrücke”

Sphere of Vadim Palmov’s interests includes a lot of rarely performed piano concertos:

From Schoenberg, Martinu, Stravinsky, Mosolov, Villa-Lobos, Marten, to the Sonata for piano and strings of Salmanov, Palmov is famous for his multi-variant virtuosity.

Among various ensemble performances the pianist gives great prominence to piano duets.
For many years he has been playing duets with the well-known St. Petersburg composer and pianist Vadim Bibergan (who has written numerous compositions of chamber and symphonic music and over 70 film soundtracks) and now with his son Igor Palmov.

ANTON RUBINSTEIN FESTIVAL

Vadim Palmov is the artistic director
of the Anton Rubinstein Festival in Peterhof, Russia, since 2005.

The classical music festival is named in honor of the 19th century Russian pianist, composer, conductor and educator Anton Rubinstein (not to be confused with Arthur Rubinstein, the Polish 20th Century pianist) and is dedicated to the anniversary of Rubinstein’s birth in November 1829. The festival unites some of the best young performers on stage. Young musicians and their well-known teachers present compositions for piano soloists and duets, as well as other musical instruments and vocalists at venues in St. Petersburg, Peterhof and Pushkin.

for Nathan Perelman on his 100th birthday:

All human achievements are reached through education and it was Rubinstein who founded the first conservatoire in Russia, ran the first international contest among pianists and composers and greatly helped the development of musical education throughout the world.” (Vadim Palmov)

MUSIC BRIDGE” (MUSIKBRÜCKE)

Vadim Palmov is the artistic director
of this intercultural musical exchange project for children.

Since 2005, I have been leading the “Music Bridge“, a project where children from
St. Petersburg and from Germany come together and give concerts.
They find a way of communicating with each other through music and it happens plenty of times that due to a lack of knowledge of languages this is a mutual way out.
For me that is the best example, which is sufficient to prove a special meaning of music in intercultural understanding.”

(Vadim Palmov)

“Musikbrücke” also brings together young pianists and award winners from regional, national and international competitions in both Russia and Germany.
